Freedom fighter  Bhanu Nesa

Freedom fighter  Bhanu Nesa was overwhelmed by the reception arranged by one of the Nirmul Committee Library of Santhia. Bhanu Nesa said no body came to recognize her contribution in the liberation war as Nirmul Committe did 34 years after the independence of Bangladesh.

Martyrs of Liberation War Memorial Library of Santhia arranged a reception to honor destitute freedom fighter Bhanus Nesa on 22 March 2005. Nirmul Committee leaders presented Bhanu Nesa with a cash gift of Tk 15,000 as part of its Rehabilitation Program for freedom fighters and victims of liberation war.

This reception program in Santhia is politically very significant because this is the first ever event organized by a pro-liberation organization in the hometown of war criminal and Jamat head Motiur Rahman Nizami. Even Awami League, the biggest opposition party of Bangladesh, could not dare organize a rally in Nizami's home town for last 34 years.

As soon as Jamat-e-Islam formed the government in coalition with BNP in 2001 they cancelled the monthly allowance of all freedom fighters and their families. Santhia is the constituency of war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami. Nizami was the head of the death squad in 1971 and was responsible for killing of the leading intellectuals of Bangladesh. This notorious war criminals is presently the head of Jamat-e-Islami. In power Jamat-e-Islam took the office welfare department and use the ministerial power to cut all the welfare benefits to the supporters of the liberation war of 1971 and used the fund to build Kowmi madrasas and pamper the Jamat supporters.
