Nirmul Committee observes the Mujibnagar Day, 17 April 2005

Nirmul Committee has decided to take legal action against the present (BNP+Jamat-e-Islam) government for disregarding the formal declaration of Independence of Bangladesh which endorsed Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman's declaration of independence of 26 March 1971 in Dhaka, that became part of the Bangladesh Constitution (4th Schedule: article 150). NC also formed a committee of five constitution experts to conduct the case. headed by Justice KM Sobhan, other members of this committee are Barrister Shawkat Ali Khan, Barrister Amir-ul-Islam, Barrister Shafique Ahmed and Advocate Mahabube Alam (president, Supreme Court Bar Association)

Social activist Simin Hossain Rimi, daughter of Tajuddin Ahmed, the first Prime Minister of People's Republic of Bangladesh, whose government took oath on 17 April 1971 at Mujibnagar, addressing the seminar on 17 April at WVA auditorium Dhaka, organized by Nirmul Committee to underscore the 34th anniversary of Mujibnagar Day.
